Yes, it is a hack, but the point i am trying to make is that it is easier to declare a drop shadow of grey for all your text than to determine what color the text is if you do want to use a drop shadow that is equivalent to currentColor.. we also can't do text-shadow: 1px 1px 1px rgba(currentColor, 0.5); but that may come in handy.
