No flaming here but for what it's worth running JS in a CSS context - CSS 
expressions - was an old nightmare of ours until IE8 standards mode :) 

Specifically in perf terms. And those 'only' set property values. Running
arbitrary code on the selector side sounds like a significant speed-bump.
