You burden authors with having to include root strings for all possible servers in their production workflow. You effectively break the use of relative URL's for font URL's, since the data at the end of those relative URL's would be tied to a specific set of absolute URL's. And this doesn't address the web cache problem noted by Dave Singer, that's actually a tougher problem to solve. Whatever algorithm is generating the cache URL would now need to regenerate font data so that the root string matched the cache location. John Daggett Mozilla Japan
