The first sentence of section 10.3.8 [1] is: This situation is similar to the previous one, except that the element has an intrinsic width. This sentence seems to be informative, not normative, and has confused at least one person into thinking that this section does not apply to replaced elements without an intrinsic width. See <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412679#c12> (down past all the quoted stuff). I suggest just removing this sentence, since it has nothing to add to the normative part of the section.
