If text characters were formatted according to draft CSS3 rules, you would see text like this: +-------------------------------------------------------------+ | Some characters have descenders that go below the baseline. | | It would be silly to | | do | | formatting like this. | +-------------------------------------------------------------+ Perhaps the principle of meaningful names should be stronger, so that it would apply somewhat to the principle of tight packing. If dropping a box less than half its height would result in being able to move it to the left edge, of its container, it would be fitting to do so. I propose making a change to allow this.
