The CSS Working Group has just published the "CSS3 Basic User Interface Module[1]" as a W3C Candidate Recommendation. The CSS Validator has not been updated yet to accept the new pseudo-elements and properties of this module, but let that not deter you. W3C recommends that you use them and, especially, implement them in software. Let us know about problems you find in the specification when you do that. The specification will remain a Candidate Rec for at least six months, in which time the working group will collect a test suite and prepare an implementation report. If all goes well, i.e., there are sufficient implementations and no major problems, the next step after that is Recommendation.
