There is a strong negative corelation between gimmickry on a web site and
the amount of information that you can obtain from that site.  There
may be exceptions, but they are rare.  Generally sites willing to provide
real information don't need gimmickry.  For me, sites with lots of gimmickry
don't get a chance to prove their worth unless they are the only possible
source of information on a subject, because they are difficult to navigate
and the attempt is likely to be wasted.
