display: none problem on ie4 pc

ok here is the code:

<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" bgcolor="#c0c0c0">
<tr>
	<td>
		<table width="150" border="1" cellpadding="0"
cellspacing="0">
		<tr style="DISPLAY: none">
			<td>row 1</td>
		</tr>
		<tr>
			<td>row 2</td>
		</tr>
		</table>
	</td>
</tr>
</table>

in ie5 or ie5.5 this works fine

in ie4 i have a problem:
the first row (containing 'row 1') is not displayed. that's what i want.
but there is a small amount of space before row 2 ....

is there a way to fix???

thx in advance
