A new W3C Working Draft has just been released, which extends CSS1 to allow for the description of fonts. These descriptions enable - improved client-side font matching, rather than simple name matching - client-side synthesis of simailar-looking fonts - dynamic download of fonts from a web server, for use by the stylesheet. Public comment is invited, and should be sent to this list. The draft is a product of the W3C Cascading Style Sheets and Formatting Properties working group, and builds on the recommendations of the W3C Fonts working group. http://www.w3.org/TR/WD-font -- Chris Lilley, W3C [ http://www.w3.org/ ] Graphics and Fonts Guy The World Wide Web Consortium http://www.w3.org/people/chris/ INRIA, Projet W3C chris@w3.org 2004 Rt des Lucioles / BP 93 +33 (0)4 93 65 79 87 06902 Sophia Antipolis Cedex, France
