There are several strings that can be used to identify me. "Mr. Baker", "Mark", "Mark Baker", "Daddy", "http://www.markbaker.ca/". That last one is the only one of those strings that has a uniform meaning in all contexts. I like having an identifier with that feature. So instead of <http://www.markbaker.ca/index.html> dc:Creator "Mark Baker" we can disambiguate this by saying <http://www.markbaker.ca/index.html> dc:Creator <http://www.markbaker.ca/> BTW, http://www.markbaker.ca/index.html is an HTML representation of me.
