Summary of New Action Items:

AI-20040218-1 [DH] to produce an XSLT transform to generate simple
test-material questions from SpecGL by Feb 23 2004

Agenda: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-qa-wg/2004Feb/0044.html
Previous Telcon Minutes:
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-qa-wg/2004Feb/0038.html

1.) roll call 11am EDT, membership

2.) routine business
        - Future telecons [0]
        - note esp. QAF CR issues telecon [1], [2]

[LH] Next week's telecon will review CR issues for OpsGL and SpecGL.
Please review in advance.
[PC] We've received very little feedback on TestGL issues list.
[LH] We'll probably need to put this on the agenda for discussion at a
telecon
[PC] We must proceed with the draft in the absence of feedback.
[LH] Plan a brief discussion of draft, and issues, during F2F in France

[DH/KD] Encourage us to use the Wiki freely - bounce ideas off others

3.) WWW2004 (DM) [3]
        - Karl to summarize, solicit reports/status

[DM] Should we include a (really) contrary point of view on the panel?
(Give in to
the proprietary way of thinking, the problem will be solved.)
[PC] What's the point - a waste of an opportunity
[LH] Reiterated his responses to David's recent message
(see http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-qa-wg/2004Feb/0041.html)
[DM] We can introduce some of these issues in discussion without having
someone explicitly
promoting them
[DM/LH] What about the "best viewed by <browser>" problem? This is
"solved" by Microsoft's
market share
[KD] Some of the strongest products on the market (Mozilla, Konqueror)
have their origins
in the open source community.
[DM] We can discuss these issues without specifically adding someone to
the panel

4.) Test materials for QAF GL documents
        - goal: develop/agree TM for a single chosen CP
        - background [4]
        - previous contributions [5]
        - dependence on 3 TA (CR) issues? [6]

[LD] introduces ref 5 - what test materials might look like. Do we have
a preference
for questions generated from conformance requirements (example 1) or
from test
assertions (example 2)?
[DM, PC] We prefer #2 - the questions are more meaningful
[LH] Prefers #2 also, but points out that we could generate #1-style
questions
automatically via an XSLT transformation. We could replace with #2-style
test
materials later. This would allow us to immediately respond to those who
criticise
us for not having test materials.
[LH] We are also non-compliant with other OpsGL recommendations (test
harness,
results-reporting system).
[PC] Why bother creating a "harness" (a web form)? The primary reason
for a harness
is to ensure that tests are repeatable/reproducible. This isn't an issue
with
a simple questionnaire.
[LH] It would make it easier.
[LH] Results reporting is either the simple text/html-based
questionnaire itself,
or a print-out/summary of the submitted results.
[LH] Next step: do something quick with the existing CR versions of the
docs, or
postpone for future revisions.
[all] Consensus is to wait, at least until some major issues are addressed
[DH] Will create an XSLT transform anyway (from OpsGL) - will be useful
whichever
way we go (takes an AI to do so)

Any other business...

[KD] Please edit the Wiki...
[PC] We are still hoping to publish next draft of TestGL next week. We must
publish before Feb 25 (a publishing moritorium begins then). Must push for
publication on Feb 24. Get materials to Lofton by end of weekend.

5.) Adjourn

6.) Overflow (12-12:30): available.
