QA Working Group Teleconference Wednesday, 02-10-2002 -- Scribe: Dominique Hazael-Massieux Attendees: (dd) Dimitris Dimitriadis (Ontologicon) (KD) Karl Dubost (W3C, WG co-chair) (HF) Henri Fallon (W3C - Webmaster) (DH) Dominique Hazael-Massieux (W3C) (LH) Lofton Henderson (CGMO - WG co-chair) (DM) David Marston (IBM) (OT) Olivier Thereaux (W3C) Regrets: (KG) Kirill Gavrylyuk (Microsoft) (LR) Lynne Rosenthal (NIST - IG co-chair) (MS) Mark Skall (NIST) (SM) Sandra Martinez (NIST) Absent: (PF) Peter Fawcett (RealNetworks) (AT) Andrew Thackrah (Open Group) (JM) Jack Morrison (Sun) Summary of New Action Items: None Agenda: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-qa-wg/2002Oct/0009.html Previous Telcon Minutes: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-qa-wg/2002Oct/0002.html [Draft] Minutes: QA WG participation and future The first discussion went around the low level of participation in the QA WG: we're only 11 official WG members, and among them, some can only participate in a limited way because of external constraints. Karl proposes to advertise the QA Activity during the AC Meeting, but Dimitris points that we might want to have a more radical approach, esp. underlining that the work we're doing is going to be mandatory at some point. He'd like the W3C Team to stress this as much as possible. Olivier points that the W3C QA Activity has got a lot of consideration lately in the W3C Management Team, and that getting help on this should be fairly easy. It also appears that behind the "stick" approach, the "carrot" one would be to show all the benefits the QA WG can bring to other WG; for instance, a test assertion markup and testing tools would certainly be a good showcase. Lofton proposes to add this topic and the broader one of the WG's future at the QA F2F Agenda, since it's quite important and would benefit from a F2F time. ---------- Logistics in Tokyo Olivier confirms that everything is in order for the upcoming F2F in Tokyo, where Henri will attend to participate both to a QA Team F2F and the QA WG one. All that people needs to know is available on the F2F logistics page [1]. Would anyone need Olivier's phone number to ask for help in case of problems, Olivier is ready to give it on private email (mailto:ot@w3.org). 1. http://www.w3.org/QA/2002/10/f2f ----------- Tokyo's agenda Since a new and possibly big agenda item has been proposed on the WG's future, the question of where to put it in the agenda arises. Lofton thinks that this item is important enough to remove some other items, maybe some part of test GL or some demos. Dimitris would rather not make his demos than not work on Test GL. Lofton stresses that demos are an important part of the meeting, since they are at the core of our substantial work, but agrees that we might cut some of them. The idea of off-schedule meetings arises as well, allowing for more time on small groups. The WG is invited to send suggestions on a possible agenda reorganization. Lofton then asks if there should be a more detailled agenda than the one already sent [2], as it was the case in Montreal. He proposes to take a look at the Spec GL issues and prioritize them and asks Dimitris to detail what he would like to see discussed in "his" 2 items, the QA WG survey on authoring technologies and the Test task force. Lofton hopes that Kirill will post his refinements on the Test GL discussion agenda item. 2. http://www.w3.org/QA/2002/10/f2f#agenda ------- Adjourned -- Dominique Hazaël-Massieux - http://www.w3.org/People/Dom/ W3C/INRIA mailto:dom@w3.org
