I am disappointed

There are so many so called "open standards" by various groups which are
open only for corporations. We do not need another one. I regarded the W3C
always high as a rather slow an academic group which served the community.
By allowing patents to take over the then not-so-open standards the group
will only serve the financial interests of its members. Open-source
developement will be threatened - is this the ultimate goal?

I do not object "industrial (patents covered) standards" in general, but
they should stay outside of W3C's efforts. If you let them in you will loose
all your credibility.

Please, do not let the money rule the last homely place on the Net - just
re-reading The Hobbit :-)

Masi
