W3C, The identification, development and implementation of methods designed to promote universal access to the Web cannot be subject to patent legislation, since this would contradict the concept of universal accessibility. I suggest that if patents are being sought, or already exist, for software designed to promote universal accessibility, that you should indicate that said software be ineligible for recommendation and inclusion in recognized Web standard documentation.
