I am extremely concerned about the proposed patent policy changes and the comments surrounding this issue. It is my own opinion that the standards embraced by the w3c must be free and open for use by all. Therefore any policy that leads to the 'not for free licensing' of core technology is wrong. I think there are concepts for 'services' that are delivered by one or more 'mechanisms' . You may pay for the service but any adopted standard mechanism should be free and open.
