Dear W3Cers, Sorry i haven't written before. Thanks for the web. A lot. I hear you're thinking to start including standards that are under patent and require a licensing fee. Please don't do that. Much of the beauty and power of the World Wide Web and the Internet comes from how open they are. If they are to achieve their full potential (still well in the future i am sure), we must preserve that openness, and not bogging developers down in the time and expense of tracking patents and paying royalties is part of that. Please instead use only standards that can be used on a royalty-free basis. Maybe a new, separate organization could be formed to work on royalty-based standards. Thanks for listening...life, John -- Sometimes | ..:::.. we are at the | .::::*:::::. curve's edge --=> AbbeNormal | ..::::::::::::::.. http://www.ourpla.net/cgi-bin/pikie.cgi |....:*::::::::::::*:::::::::....
