Sirs and Madams, As an internet content developer I am dismayed at the recent proposals coming from the W3C. I doubt I need remind this esteemed body of the history of the internet and the subsequent World Wide Web. It is of the utmost importance that the tradition of openness and interoperation between software which has defined the Network be preserved! Although the efforts of the W3C have many and of great value and importance to the Internet, I am afraid you have stumbled on this patent issue and I regret having to say this: SHAME ON YOU! In summary, I request two things of the W3C: 1. Reject the Patent Policy Framework Working Draft as a document and as a concept. 2. Extend the public comment period until the end of October, 2001 Thank you for accepting my opinion on this very important matter. Sincerely, ============================== Chris Geanious Support Systems Analyst Senior Institute For Human Development Northern Arizona University ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Phone: 520-523-7050 e-mail: Chris.Geanious@nau.edu ==============================
