Opposing sections 4 and 5

The w3c should openly and verbosely oppose the practice to patent
software and algorithms at least in it's very own domain - the web.



Just imagine paying royalties for html:

Do you really think the web would exist?



That should be enough to turn your back at the (to at least disclose
some of my emotions: ridiculous) idea of publishing "standards" which
require the users of these "standards" to pay royalties.
