Intrinsic in the idea of an industry standard is free access by those in that industry. Certainly some standards have arisen by demand of the market place, but to be forced by an industry standard to buy a particular company's technology is contrary to that intrinsic goal. Also intrinsic in standards is the concept of creating specifications that foster competition and production. This proposal is designed to stifle that. I suspect those in the committee who fostered this proprosal do not have a good understanding of the basic goals such a body incorporates. John Richter I. S. Manager NSBHP Steel, LLC
