I've recently started work as a freelance web developer and have just read the RAND proposal. I am horified that this proposal is being considered. It will reduce W3C to another representation of a money-grabbing, corporation - a puppet of Microsoft and the other corporations involved. It will lose credibility in the eyes of the developer community and public. It will de-value the fantastic work done to date. I for one will not be adding W3C 'XHTML Compliant' and 'CSS Compliant' buttons to my work if this goes through. Please reject this proposal and continue with the 'world community' spirit that I understood W3C represented. Yours sincerely David Laws.
