Root, root Icons, icons: ???

Trying to understand the proxy configuration in Jigsaw Admin.

What's the difference between Root and root?
why is root under Root?
both are DirectoryResource with identifier="root"

What's the difference in Icon and icon?
they look the same also. Is this a mechanism for
handling with upper/lower case ambiguity?
