Attached please find a WD last call comment from ACCESS. Thank you. -- Yam (Toshihiko Yamakami, yam@access.co.jp) =================================================== ACCESS Comment for XHTML Basic 1.1 Last Call Working Draft (http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/WD-xhtml-basic-20060705/) 2006.08.04 ACCESS appreciates the W3C effort to converge W3C XHTML Basic 1.0 and OMA XHTML Mobile Profile 1.2, which will be crucial for the emerging mobile Internet market. The only comment is concern for the target attribute, which is not a part of existing . We consider that it is derived from the W3C strive for CDF. We think it is an important issue, however, it is better addressed in the whole landscape with processing models and event handling, not just an inclusion of the target attribute. Inclusion of the target attribute in the browser arena may increase a potential interoperability problems, with potential misuse with undefined frame modules, because target attributes are used in the multiple frame contexts in a browser. We recommend to defer the inclusion of the target attribute to the future version. We expect a successful convergence step in XHTML Basic 1.1 to fulfillthe growing market needs and reduce the pains in the mobile content authoring. We emphasize the importance of the sharing a common markup language with identical modules between W3C and OMA for the basis of the mobile Internet.
