Off topic: how to question. Web server/HTTP reply. > .html to .shtml may do the trick, but ask your provider. Some ISPs require extra payment even for this. Moreover, the default is likely to be not to send a Last-Modified-Header and/or not respond properly to If-Modified-Since headers, which are necessary for responsible use of the internet. In this case, the last modified date should probably be the latest of the pattern file and all its included files.
