No more unfair than it is of you to blame HTML for what are really shortcomings of specific browsers. Various flavors of HTML have had captions for years, and browsers from authors that were trying to work with the standards process have implemented them as such for a similar period. Unfortunately, the intersection of the set authors of popular browsers and the set of authors trying to work with the standards process was empty for far to long. <mike
