Sure; my understanding of Tracker and process (from how the TAG works) is that when someone believes they have completed an action, they mark the action Pending Review; when the chairs have accepted the action as performed, the chairs mark it "Closed". I'm not sure if that practice is consistent with HTML-WG's use of the W3C issue tracker, since there seem to be recent discussions over what is or isn't an ISSUE and who should or shouldn't raise one in what circumstance. Some additional guidance on working group use of the issue tracker would be helpful. As for Action-169, I was tempted to close the issue myself when I sent the mail but thought a confirmation would be useful. And, in fact, my first email bounced; the Dublin Core General mailing list is restricted to posts from members only. I actually joined the DC mailing list just to be able to resend the message. https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A2=ind1001&L=DC-GENERAL&T=0&F=&S=&X=2D02A843C1D27FD7FD&Y=masinter%40adobe.com&P=791 shows it in the DCMI mailing list archive, and the HTML WG mailing list has since gotten direct postings from members of the Dublin Core group, and so gotten confirmation that it was received. I think you could close the action even before the meeting if you're satisfied that it was performed, since it doesn't really merit discussion. -- http://larry.masinter.net From: Paul Cotton [mailto:Paul.Cotton@microsoft.com] Sent: Tuesday, January 19, 2010 9:59 AM To: Larry Masinter Cc: Sam Ruby; Maciej Stachowiak (mjs@apple.com); Philippe Le Hegaret; Michael(tm) Smith (mike@w3.org); www-archive Subject: RE: ACTION-169: Send an email to the dublin core group Thanks for the update. Can we simply close this Action as completed at this week's meeting? It was due on Jan 14. Last Wednesday, January 13, http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html/2010Jan/0574.html I sent an email to the HTML working group, which included: ===================== ACTION-169: I just sent this email and marked the action as Pending Review. http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html/2010Jan/0573.html ====================== and, as I noted, I edited the status of ACTION-169 in the working group tracker to be "pending review". If you look in the W3C HTML working group issue tracker at http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/actions/169 you will note that the status of the action is marked "Pending Review". The tracker on the action item includes pointers to the emails. So, to answer your question: the status of this Action Item is that it is "pending review". Thanks!
