Amaya 8.8.51 bug in input control

Sarting from a clean xhtml1.1 doc I created a 
text control  (ie input type="text")...  I then added
the maxlength attribute to be a small number like
5 ...  i then went into the control and typed
"something"   but it didn't stop me at the fifth char
maxlength is not acted on even though it can be
authored through amaya....
i would call this a bug as testing in amaya should
exhibit actions that browsers are expected to 
(of course not events as scripting isnt enabled)--
