Michael, I see the second problem on Windows and GNU/Linux as you describe i.e. I'm typing and at the end of the line the caret sometimes jumps somewhere else in the document. If I'm not paying attention I'll end up with my typing in the middle of some unrelated sentence. As you say this seems to occur when the space falls at the end of the line such that it should start a new line.
