Cannot unzip amaya-linux-elf.tar.gz

Hi!

I've downloaded "amaya-linux-elf.tar.gz". When I try to unzip it, 
gunzip reports:

     "invalid compressed data--format violated".

Any hints?

For completeness: I've downloaded "amaya-linux.elf.tar.gz" twice, once
from "sunsite" and once from  "ftp-eu.w3.org". I use gunzip version
1.2.4 and linux kernel 2.0.14.
