OK, it's not web, but I found the following fascinating: http://newsoffice.mit.edu/2015/finger-mounted-reading-device-blind-0310 PREDICTION: They'll soon find that audio pitch will work better to guide finger tracking, far better than audio volume. e.g. The sound gets louder. What does that mean? Is the finger too high? Or too low on the page? Even more interesting, though, will be the ability of the user to track through complex page layouts. The challenge of complex layouts has always been one of the greater challenges for OCR based reading systems. With a finger mounted device all the smarts for correctly tracking page layout and getting sense out of the printed text are laid on the user--including the need to effectively skip past graphics and photographs.
