The problem is that the "parent" might not even be in the DOM at the time, because of tree views where only one screenful of lines are loaded at any one time, via AJAX. From: James Craig <jcraig@apple.com> To: W3C WAI-XTECH <wai-xtech@w3.org> Date: 07/21/2008 09:41 PM Subject: ISSUE: aria-setsize is redundant; it should be on listitem parentNode, not listitem ISSUE: aria-setsize is redundant; it should be an attribute of the listitem's parentNode, not of the listitem itself. I searched the list logs and found that the issue was raised previously, but could not find any discussion or resolution. http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-pfwg-comments/2008JanMar/0053.html
