Universal icons and visible label

I have a question regarding Example 4: Stand alone icon image that has a function. The example provided is a “universal icon” that has come to represent, by activating it, printer function will launch. This icon has no visible label or name since it is universally understood. (Page I’m referencing https://www.w3.org/WAI/tutorials/images/functional/)

In looking at numerous websites and mobile sites and noticing icons which have gained universal understanding. Examples: The share icon (3 dots and 2 lines), favorites (heart), ellipsis (3 dots), hamburger menu (3 lines), back arrow (left pointing arrow), camera (rectangle with a circle) and so on.

In mobile, real-estate is tight which is why icons are so heavily used. Is there a list of icons that are classified as universal and therefore do not require a visible name? If there isn’t a list, is there an initiative to create such a list of icons?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
