My book on Accessible Forms from InDesign will be republished early next year. I run the course only a couple of times a year, online, and the next session will be in the spring. I think Karen has her book available. —Bevi — — — Bevi Chagnon | Designer, Accessibility Technician | Chagnon@PubCom.com — — — PubCom: Technologists for Accessible Design + Publishing consulting • training • development • design • sec. 508 services Upcoming classes at www.PubCom.com/classes — — — Latest blog-newsletter – Simple Guide to Writing Alt-Text -----Original Message----- From: Thaxton, Sara E - (sthaxton) <SThaxton@uapress.arizona.edu> Sent: Thursday, September 24, 2020 11:43 AM To: Karlen Communications <info@karlencommunications.com>; chagnon@pubcom.com; w3c-wai-ig@w3.org Subject: RE: [EXT]RE: Accessible PDF forms versus forms in Word doc Do either of you, Karen and Bevi, have your books for sale somewhere? I would personally be very interested in purchasing copies! (I'd love even more to take your courses but I'm already going back to college full-time at 40!) Faster, cheaper, and more accurate. And seconding (thirding?) Karen's comments. A well-made PDF form can be fully accessible. The problem is that most people don't know how to make a PDF form accessible, so PDF forms get a bad rap. It definitely is an art! And requires training. Pros and Cons to both methods, Word-to-PDF or InDesign-to-PDF; decide what's most critical for your form and audiences. Forms built in InDesign can contain the form fields, and plug-ins can add scripts, too. So you can design and edit your InDesign form in one application, and export a nearly complete, accessible PDF...with all the reading orders intact. And yes, I have a class and book on accessible PDF forms from Adobe InDesign. –Bevi Chagnon — — — Bevi Chagnon | Designer, Accessibility Technician | Chagnon@PubCom.com PubCom: Technologists for Accessible Design + Publishing consulting • training • development • design • sec. 508 services Upcoming classes at www.PubCom.com/classes
