Hi all, you may recall that, following the devastating effects of recent hurricanes in the Caribbean, Fundación Sidar postponed their 8th annual conference which was due to be held in Puerto Rico. After much further discussion we have decided to hold the VIII Jornadas del Sidar around its usual time, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and to hold a regional event in Puerto Rico in February. The organisation of the Jornadas is being led by Jorge Plano and the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional - Facultad Regional de Buenos Aires, with help from Sidar participants based in Argentina, and Interest Group Coordinators. It will take place on the 24-26 November. The call for participation and registration details are available online at http://www.sidar.org/acti/jorna/8jorna/ and the prliminary program is at http://www.sidar.org/acti/jorna/8jorna/progra8.php (all in spanish). In respect of our original plans for Puerto Rico, and in recognition of the work being done there, we will be holding a special regional conference there in February, focussing on the Caribbean zone. In this way we will not interrupt too much the flow of the regular work of Sidar around the world, and will be able to celebrate this year the IberoAmerican Year for People with Disabilities. With the short notice we understand that it wil be difficult for those who are outside the region to travel to the Jornadas, but we hope that some will be able to convert their travel plans, and that it will be a possibility now for those who are in the region to attend the Jornadas. This also means that the time to propose sites for the Mención Sidar "Diseñado para Todos" is at hand. As a reminder, details are available at http://www.sidar.org/acti/menc/index.php Espero que nos vemos a Buenos Aires, (o en febrero a Puerto Rico) On behalf of the Foundation, Charles McCathieNevile - Vice Presidente, Fundación Sidar
