To add business logic, JSP uses Java code embedded in the HTML used to build the Web page, while ASP uses Visual Basic script. As such, the technologies often require developers to act as designers and vice versa.

Lutris, of Santa Cruz, Calif., has gotten around that problem by developing a unique compiler called Enhydra XMLC.
