I think that’s a slightly different issue (in the video), if the person had been tabbing through the interface I’d bet the focus would have gone from the left menu to the right buttons. I.e. if they are separate controls the focus would go from one to the other.

Without defining what the thing it would be proximate to (which doesn’t sound easy), I’m not sure how to address that.
