At last week's meeting, Gregg and I took an action item to compile all of the recent proposals and editorial suggestions into a special review draft so that people could see them all in place. We also incorporated a couple of additional fixes based on our discussions during the teleconference last week. 1.) In the teleconference, there was a concern about the use of the term "level 2." In this draft, therefore, we're trying out the use of the heading "Best Practice Success Criteria," for those best practice items that are testable. 2.) There was a discussion about how to best label the non-testable best practices so that it was clear that this was purely informative. For this draft, we are using the term "Additional Notes" and putting them into a box like the other informative sections to make this clearer. The word "Informative" in parentheses is also at the end of the heading as it is for all of the other informative sections of the draft. For the time being, we have these in their own separate box. It wasn't clear whether they should be kept into a separate box so that they would be easier to identify or to include them in the box that contains all of the other informative information. We can think of arguments in favor of both, but we've kept them separate for now to facilitate review. 3.) All edits are marked both visually and with [begin add] new, added text [end add], [begin chg] changed text [end chg], and [begin del] deleted text [end del] as well as with visual cues (color and strikethrough) to facilitate review. The only exception is that we did not highlight the old best practice items that were not edited, but were simply sorted into the new "Best Practice Checkpoint" and "Additional Notes" categories. The new draft, which we will be discussing in tomorrow's call, is available at http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/2003/07/review_draft.html. -Ben and Gregg -- Ben Caldwell | caldwell@trace.wisc.edu Trace Research and Development Center (http://trace.wisc.edu)
