Yes, in practice it is true, but do we need some kind of exemptions like: "Text on third party advertisements, such as banners, that are not directly related to the content of the page, do not course a page to lose its conformance standing" What about the checkpoint about flashing for LD and epilepsy. Some banner systems the author has no way to preview or know the flash rate of banners that will be placed on her site. -----Original Message----- From: w3c-wai-gl-request@w3.org [mailto:w3c-wai-gl-request@w3.org]On Behalf Of Marti Sent: Sunday, October 29, 2000 12:56 PM To: seeman@netvision.net.il; WAI (E-mail) Subject: Re: Text on banners Perhaps my attitude needs some adjustment but not being able to access ad banners doesn't strike me a great loss! I have noticed lately that many TV commercials have gone to just music and sound effects and you have to read the screen to get the message - somehow that doesn't bother me much. The irritating ones are when you part of the message, the ones that make you want something and then tell you to call the number on the screen. It seems to me that in the case of advertisements failure to make it accessible is the loss of the advertiser much more than the potential consumer.
