OK hear is my attempt to fulfil the action item to rewrite 1.1 I propose that people now try to rewrite and reform the rewrite, so that the suggestions and improvements are accumulative. I would also like to note, that it is perhaps part of out TV culture that we have become used to receiving succinct SoundBits of information. Perhaps it is a shame that people now find it hard to digest a beautifully constructed sentence. However, this is the reality, and although the rewrite is possibly less artistically valued, it may better server the propose of having our audience understand and keep the guideline. Hear it is.. Ensure, by providing text equivalents, that every component of a document, web page, or multimedia presentation, can be rendered as text in a standard character set. To achieve this: Provide text equivalents for every non textual elements such as auditory and grafical components Capture the intent of the non textual element in the textual equivalent Preserve the functionality of the non textual element in the textual equivalent Use the best and most apropriate meens to maintain the propose of the non textual element in the textual equivalent . This can be achieved in some cases by a short label or descriptive phrase. However in other cases the essence of the non textual element is best captured by a longer explanation, description or exposition. Structured content or metadate can also be used. Your comments, grammatical errors etc ... Lisa
