On July 26-27th the California State University System called a meeting to develop a Digital Marketplace for educational content. The meeting pulled together publishers, LMS representatives, CMS representatives, several consultants and various representatives form the California State University. What was most interesting was the fact that accessibility was stated as a basic requirement of system design. Data exchanged across the Marketplace will be standards based. I presented some slides based on “Essential Components” as an introduction to accessible architecture. The group was receptive. To my knowledge this is the first system developed by the 23 Campus system that is being built with accessibility in mind.
