Letter of Intent - Authorized Arabic Translation W3C

Dear Xueyuan and Bilel,

Greetings from Mada Qatar Assistive Technology Center.

I hope you are doing well.

I would like to thank you Bilel for his initiative and we are really excited that WCAG 2.2 will be available in Arabic same as we did in WCAG 2.1.

Following my conversation with Bilel by email, we would like to proceed with an authorized translation of WCAG 2.2. Bilel will join us in the translation and review process.

As we did in WCAG 2.1, we established the Arab ICT Accessibility Expert Group "AIAEG" (link<https://aiaeg.mada.org.qa/members/?lang=en>) who contributed in the translation and review of WCAG 2.1<https://www.w3.org/Translations/WCAG21-ar/>.

So, based on above, and on behalf of Mada Center, I am sending a letter of intent for becoming a Leading Translation Organization for Authorized Arabic Translation of WCAG 2.2 as per the W3C Process<https://www.w3.org/2005/02/TranslationPolicy>.

We're happy to announce that experts and members of the Arab Expert Group who worked on WCAG 2.1, will be invited to join the reviewers' committee for WCAG 2.2 Authorized Candidate Translation of WCAG 2.2, as well as an official invitation to W3C Kuwait chapter and W3C Morocco chapter will be sent for their continuous support. All organizations representatives and experts are working or involved in the digital accessibility field or IT domain. In addition, the reviewers' committee list will stay open for any organization wishing to join the review process.

Moreover, Mada Center is committed to maintaining the translation after publication, to ensure its continued quality and accuracy as new input emerges from the community, and not limited to.

Thank you for reaching us. Can you please clarify if the document you intend to translate is the recently published WCAG 2.2:

Regarding the translation process, W3C encourages both (a) Volunteer Translation and (b) Authorized Translation.

(a) Volunteer translations in various languages play an important role in allowing W3C technologies to reach wider audience around the world. Those translations are contributed by volunteers and are not endorsed by W3C. Detailed steps for developing such translations are described in:
https://www.w3.org/Consortium/Translation/#how

(b) Authorized translations, going through formal review process, are endorsed by W3C and can be used for official purposes in languages other than English. To develop an Authorized Translation, an organization must apply for becoming the Lead Translation Organization, and coordinate relevant stakeholders and the public to review the translation before it's formally published.
