[cat] Intention of translation

Dear Colleagues,

Hereby the Facultat de Matemàtiques i Informàtica (Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science) of Universitat de Barcelona notifies W3C and all concerned parties of their intention to become LTO for WCAG 2.1 translation to Catalan.

The University of Barcelona [https://www.ub.edu/web/portal/ca/] has been involved in disseminating digital accessibility to the Catalan Community with many initiatives and was the first organization to publish an official translation of a W3C guideline.

Mireia Ribera, Jordi Barea and Rosa M. Satorras are coordinating the translation, with the collaboration of Rubén Alcaraz, Marina Salse, Mercè Costa, S.A. Cristian Ladaga, with linguistic advice from Serveis Lingüístics de la Universitat de Barcelona and  with terminological advice from TERMCAT.

This translation will be carried out in collaboration with the following entities, which have already agreed to participate:

●    Associació Discapacitat Visual: B1+B2+B3 [1] is a non-profit organization that provides services to people with visual disabilities to improve their quality of life and raising awareness of this group to improve their social integration. The entity serves people with visual disabilities with several degrees of disability: total (B1), severe (B2) and mild (B3).
●    AIPO [2] Computer-Human Interaction Association (Associació Interacció Persona-Ordinador): This entity, Iber-American in scope, brings together teachers, researchers and companies working in the area of computer-human interaction. AIPO has promoted teaching programs in usability and accessibility in Spain through the creation of various electronic resources for providing teaching support and through the establishment of a specific master’s degree in computer-human interaction. The Association has the accessibility of interactive systems as one of its main work axes.
●    Fundació Desenvolupament Comunitari [3] (FDC): is a social and solidarity economy entity dedicated to innovation, production and management of knowledge for social transformation and sustainable development through dialogue. The FDC team accompanies professionals from the public and private spheres, politicians, organizations and, in general, civil society in the search and experimentation of tools that facilitate coexistence and grow community life. In the field of accessibility, FDC develops projects and services that promote inclusive environment and activities, eliminating barriers that hinder universal accessibility, especially for people with functional diversity, favoring their inclusion in equal opportunities, empowering people and promoting their independent life. As examples FDC has participated in the drafting of accessibility standards and guides for the accessibility of public activities with Municipal Administrations, audits of cultural establishments, museum spaces and exhibitions and the supervision of tools for accessible guided tours.
●    Sidar Foundation [4]: holds the Iber-American Seminar on Disability and Accessibility on the Net (Seminario Iberoamericano sobre Discapacidad y Accesibilidad a la Red (SIDAR)): This Seminar, formed in 1997, is composed of experts in new technologies and accessibility, representatives of institutions and associations dealing with disabilities, technological companies, public sector, and individuals interested in the field. SIDAR Foundation has worked for 26 years in the accessibility field in Spain and Iberoamerica and has conducted research, developed applications and taught designers and programmers, promoting accessibility in the Information Society since there, becoming a reference in the Latino American world.
●    TERMCAT [5]: The Consortium of the Centre for Terminology TERMCAT is the official body in charge of Catalan language terminology. It was founded in 1985 by the Government of Catalonia and the Institut d'Estudis Catalans. With the ultimate goal of ensuring that Catalan terminology is available in all fields of knowledge and activity and to encourage its proper use, our mission is to coordinate terminology studies for the Catalan language, providing quality services, creating terminology products and standardizing new terms at www.termcat.cat<http://www.termcat.cat>
●    W3C Oficina España [6]: This consortium has agreed to give backing to the translation but cannot actively participate in the validation, as no one in the organization has a command of Catalan.
●    COCARMI (Comitè Català de Representants de Persones amb Discapacitat) [7]: is a Catalan umbrella organisation of persons with disabilities and their families. We defend the interests of more than 600.000 persons with disabilities in Catalonia. We are a strong united voice of persons with disabilities to ensure the full inclusion in society of persons with disabilities. We were created in 1998 by our member organisations to ensure that decisions at Catalan level concerning persons with disabilities are taken with and by persons with disabilities.
●    UTAC (Unit of Augmentative Communication Techniques) [8]: is an external service of the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Barcelona, with collaboration agreements between the Generalitat de Catalunya. Their users are children, young people, adults and the elderly with cerebral palsy, trauma caused by accidents, progressive neurological or muscular diseases, autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disability, aphasia, hospitalization or other conditions that make it difficult or they prevent oral language, handwriting, mobility or control of the environment. UTAC functions are the assessment, intervention and monitoring of users, to support their development, participation and social inclusion and the advice and cooperation with family members, professionals and institutions.
●    Fundación "No Somos Invisibles” [9]: was born as a project in 2012 aiming at generating activities adapted for people with cerebral palsy and other severe physical disabilities, for them to become an active part of society and to increase the awareness of the group. They are currently running 3 projects: a professional insertion program, an art workshop, and the creation of personal development itineraries, where 38 people participate
●    Fundació Institut Guttmann [10]: The Fundació Institut Guttmann is a private, non-denominational, non-profit entity, which carries out its care, scientific and social activity in two centers located in Badalona and in Barcelona. The foundation is mainly dedicated to treating people with disabilities of neurological origin and to care, maintenance and prevention in the areas of health and quality of life. Its goal is to be a leading healthcare institution in Neurorehabilitation and Brain Health, generating knowledge and innovation in techniques and technologies specific to our scientific field in order to improve prevention and results when treating pathologies that affect the nervous system.
●    Salut Mental Catalunya [11]:  is a social movement of representation, care and support for people with mental health problems and their families.The Catalan Mental Health Federation was born in 1996 and today it’s made up of a network of 78 associative movement entities. The Salut Mental Catalunya Foundation manages services such as the Social Clubs, a space for leisure and socialization for people with mental health problems.
•    AEVA (Asociación Científica para la Evaluación y Medición de los Valores Humanos) [12]: is a non-profit social organization, which seek to provide its members, and society in general, with scientific tools capable of accurately measuring and evaluating the communication of human values; to promote activities for the development of social and educational values, and to reverse the crisis of values that current society is going through. AEVA was born as a result of 30 years of experimental communication research at the Instrumental Analysis of Communication Laboratory (LAICOM), within the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
•    Federació Veus [13]: Is a federation that includes nine different associations that work in the mental health field from the perspective of the first person. We’ re against a biomedical approach towards mental disease and instead we favor a more holistic approach that takes into account the social background and circumstances of every individual For us, mutual support, including peer-to-peer projects, is an essential tool for the recovery of the individual and his/her reintegration in society. Open dialogue between mental health patients and their caretakers is an essential part of our methods. Quality rights are also one of our main concerns since we regard them as an effective safeguard against involuntary hospital admissions, mechanical contentions and overmedication.
•    Federació de Persones Sordes de Catalunya (FESOCA) [14]: The Federation of Deaf Persons of Catalonia (FESOCA) is a non-profit governmental organization founded in 1979, declared a public utility in 2006, which represents the affiliated associations of deaf people and the whole Catalan deaf community.  It looks after the defense of the linguistic, cultural and social rights of deaf people, and is committed to making  information and communication truly and effectively accessible  in public administrations and society, through the sign language Catalan (LSC) and through services of live or video interpretation.
•    INSTITUT MUNICIPAL DE PERSONES AMB DISCAPACITAT [15]
The IMPD offers attention services to people and works with the rest of the City Council and with the entities to extend the concepts of accessibility and inclusion, understanding that people with functional diversity must not only be able to physically access all spaces, activities and services of the city, but must also be able to participate in them at any level, with same conditions and opportunities as the rest of the citizenry.
•    Federació ACAPPS [16]: Federació d’Associacions Catalanes de Pares i Persones Sordes: The ACAPPS Federation is a non-profit organization created in 2004 that is made up of ACAPPS Barcelona, ACAPPS Lleida and ACAPPS Vallès. The Federation works with and for parents with deaf children and pre- and postlingually deaf and hard of hearing individuals, with actions for their family, educational, work, and social integration so that they feel and are full-fledged citizens.
