Subject: [Slightly off topic] Letter of Intent - Authorized Arabic Translation W3C

I look forward to seeing more Arabic translations at the W3C. Thank you.

As a side note to this process, since this is a translation that may well involve bidirectional text, please ensure that all translators become familiar with and follow the W3C guidelines on writing code in HTML+CSS for bidirectional text.

An over-arching document that points to such information can be found at:

Creating HTML Pages in Arabic, Hebrew and Other Right-to-left Scripts
https://www.w3.org/International/tutorials/bidi-xhtml/<https://eur04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2FInternational%2Ftutorials%2Fbidi-xhtml%2F&data=02%7C01%7Caothman%40mada.org.qa%7Cfaa6290248fb471f6d6608d86b76b31a%7C4aeb9755a6b143a48af2b0bd8b926cfe%7C0%7C0%7C637377504861348722&sdata=KrZghObQS7qCwS1recK8eG%2FodPWo8aAAacG13D3%2Fqww%3D&reserved=0>

You may also find it useful to run the checker we developed on the resulting translations, since it looks for various things related to text direction.

I hope that helps,

Richard Ishida

PS: (Only tangientally related) We often need advice about how to support Arabic and languages written in the Arabic script on the Web, as part of our Language Enablement initiative. That initiative aims to understand and document the barriers to use of the Web for users working in Arabic (and other languages). We also want to build a community of experts who can help us answer regular questions about how Arabic needs to work on the Web, eg. for CSS or SVG, etc. If you are interested in participating, please take a look at https://w3c.github.io/i18n-drafts/getting-started/languagedev.en<https://eur04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fw3c.github.io%2Fi18n-drafts%2Fgetting-started%2Flanguagedev.en&data=02%7C01%7Caothman%40mada.org.qa%7Cfaa6290248fb471f6d6608d86b76b31a%7C4aeb9755a6b143a48af2b0bd8b926cfe%7C0%7C0%7C637377504861368710&sdata=MTyvvsqed%2FwQw2AtKPK4QFioYSgwOwP9fBZpgbpgEWo%3D&reserved=0> and send me an email.

Dear All,

On behalf of Mada Center, I send a letter of intent for becoming a Leading Translation Organization for Authorized Arabic Translation of WCAG 2.1 as per the W3C Process (https://www.w3.org/2005/02/TranslationPolicy<https://eur04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2005%2F02%2FTranslationPolicy&data=02%7C01%7Caothman%40mada.org.qa%7Cfaa6290248fb471f6d6608d86b76b31a%7C4aeb9755a6b143a48af2b0bd8b926cfe%7C0%7C0%7C637377504861368710&sdata=aXQY0yVyzbQmL6mBcPA2E4pUClkNyNnOLYtJNWG8syY%3D&reserved=0>).

With support from the W3C Kuwait chapter and W3C Morocco chapter, we're happy to announce that 49 organizations and independent experts joined the reviewers' committee. All organizations representatives and experts are working or involved in the digital accessibility field or IT domain. Here a link to the full list of members:

In addition, the reviewers' committee list is open for any organization wishing to join the review process.

Moreover, Mada Center is committed to maintaining the translation after publication, to ensure its continued quality and accuracy as new input emerges from the community, and not limited to.

Looking at the acceptance of our organization as LTO.

Sincerely,
Dr. Achraf Othman
