To clarify what I was thinking about. Obviously it would be useful for an app to know if a uriref is being used to indicate a datatype. But this is done by using it in a typed literal, already, since aaa ppp "whatever"^^ddd . entails ddd rdf:type rdfs:Datatype . and the assertion of that conclusion by itself does not enable one to draw any new conclusions at all about either ddd or about any literals, given the current very simple datatyping scheme. So rdfs:Datatyhpe seemed to only every be a conclusion, and never get used to conclude anything else. But OK, it does no harm to leave it in, so if it makes y'all feel more comfortable :-).
