>Other than the M&S and DAML+OIL's definition of >daml:Collection, are there other groups that have defined >a rdf:parseType? For what its worth, I think that DAML's use was inspired by a desire to follow what they perceived to be good RDF practice. DAML was operating under a Darpa-mandated requirement to be RDF-compatible.
