For your draft it boils down to "validate the ABNF", "use the 'idnits' tool" <http://tools.ietf.org/tools/idnits/>, "read the RFC about new URI scheme registrations" (RFC 4395), and find a successful registration based on 4395 as example - 4395 is relatively new. And of course "follow 3986 rules", the ../foo issue. But that's no arcane IETF procedure, that's an ordinary bug found by Claus. Frank
