The solution of persistence in records related to location naming is the same for URLs as it is for any database record: activity models. Nothing happens to the record unless an action occurs. It is the actions you must model and or control. See ISO 10744 - activity models. Activity recording is only part of the answer. Misapplied, it leads to saturation of storage and is only the right answer for mission critical records where activity recording is justifiable based on impact. Otherwise, activity control and classification are applied. For these reasons it is not possible to maintain stable databases (predictable over time or space) unless the policies for the services are defined as well. Policy does not always mean "enforcement"; it simply means "agreement". Len Bullard
