Travel Grants for 10th International Semantic Web Conference http://iswc2011.semanticweb.org/attending/grants/ We are pleased to announce that both the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Semantic Web Science Association (SWSA) have contributed funds to support participation by full-time students in ISWC 2011. SWSA and NSF will provide 10,000 € and $20,000 respectively, with NSF funds being earmarked to support students attending U.S. Universities. We anticipate that the SWSA funds will support 15 awards between 600-800€, and that the NSF funds will support 13 awards of approximately $1500, although the actual award amounts could be significantly different, depending on the number of qualified applicants. To be eligible for NSF funds, you must be: - A full-time student attending a U.S. university - Agree to only use U.S. airlines to travel to ISWC 2011 - Have an alternate source of funding for your conference registration fee, since the NSF funds do not cover registration fees. All full-time students are eligible for SWSA funds, although these funds will primarily be used for students attending schools outside of the U.S. SWSA funds have no restrictions on airlines and can cover registration costs. Our goal is to encourage students who want to become part of the Semantic Web research community, and we hope that participation in ISWC 2011 will be a significant event in the graduate careers of the selected students. In selecting applications for travel support, preference will be given to students selected to participate in the doctoral consortium, followed by students who are first author on a paper accepted at the conference, followed by students who have other authorship on a conference or related workshop paper. In order to apply, please go to the NSF Funds Application page (coming soon) and submit the form. Also have your advisor e-mail a recommendation to ISWCAwards2011@gmail.com in which he/she states support for your application, affirms your status as a full-time student, and indicates the maximum extent to which he/she will provide funds for your trip. To receive full consideration, both applications and advisor letters must be received by Sept. 10, 2011. We will notify applicants of award decisions by Sept. 24, 2011.
