CWI is looking for a postdoctoral researcher for the Fish4Knowledge project. The candidate is expected to carry out research in the field of interactive information retrieval system and will perform advanced research into video retrieval systems, focusing on how queries using terms from high level taxonomies and other domain-specific knowledge can be mapped to lower-level features in the video, and how such mappings can improve video retrieval and answering higher-level scientific questions. In addition, the candidate will lead CWI's part in the project, coordinate with the international project partners and assist in supervision of the PhD assigned on the project. The research is expected to result in multiple publications in international journals and conferences. Candidates are expected to have a PhD in computer science with a strong background in information retrieval. One should have strong network, organizational and guidance skills.
