Speaking of Freebase, one of the keynote speakers at ISWC 2008
will be John Giannandrea.  John co-founded Metaweb in 2005 along
with Danny Hillis to develop Freebase as "an open, shared database
of the world's information" and currently serves as MetaWeb's CTO.
