There will be a : Semantic Web Interest Group meeting at W3C Technical Plenary Thursday, 2nd March, Cannes Mandelieu, France. Agenda : below As Dan Brickley said in his pre-announcement [1], the SWIG is a fairly informal public group, the closest we have to a membership list is subscription to semantic-web@w3.org. (danbri's the chair of SWIG but won't be available, so I'm standing in). So although the meeting won't be restricted to W3C Members, we will want to know in advance who will attending for room logistics etc. The web forms aren't yet set up for this, details will follow as soon as they become available. The meeting will be a varied mix of short and medium-length talks/presentations plus a few very short lightning talks, and some open discussion. There's a snapshot of the provisional agenda below. The lightning talks have proved interesting, useful and fun in previous years. So if anyone would like to present something, anything, but *very quickly*, please let me know. Right now the agenda says "max. 10 minutes", if we get a few more of these that time slot will have to narrow, and the challenge goes up... *** Agenda *** 9.00-9.30 Welcome and Introductions 9.30-10.00 "DBin: an all round Semantic Web platform for user communities" - Giovanni Tummarello 10.00-10.30 "Trust RDF to describe Web content?" - Phil Archer (content label XG) 10.30-11.00 Coffee 11.00-11.20 Health Care and Life Sciences IG intro 11.20-12.00 Lightning talks (max 10 mins each) * Cristian Morbidoni - "Semantic Web for the Humanities: RDF and OWL for Textual Encoding" * Michele Nucci - "Cooperative Semantic Web geotagging tools The Eclipse SW Map/GEarth" * Danny Ayers - Atom/OWL * Reto Bachmann-Gmuer : rdf-diff/rdf-patch * Tim Berners-Lee : "Browsable data" 12.00-1.30 Lunch 1.30-3.30 "GRDDL" - Dan Connolly (Gleaning Resource Descriptions from Dialects of Languages - getting RDF data out of XML and XHTML documents, e.g. microformats, using explicitly associated transformation algorithms, typically represented in XSLT) 3.30-4.00 Coffee 4.00-4.40 "WSDL RDF mapping" and "Semantic annotations for WSDL" - Jacek Kopecky 4.40-5.00 Open discussion/lightning talks - topics : see Wiki ************** The agenda may change between now and the event, the current version can be found on the ESW Wiki at : http://esw.w3.org/topic/SwigAtTp2006 Hotel, transport information etc. can be found on the page for the entire Tech Plenary meeting : http://www.w3.org/2005/12/allgroupoverview.html Local organizers: W3C Europe/ERCIM Sophia Antipolis Meeting location: Royal Hotel Casino 605 avenue du Général de Gaulle 06210 Mandelieu la Napoule Tel : +33 (0)4 92 97 70 00 Fax : +33 (0)4 93 49 51 50 Any other queries or suggestions please feel free to contact me on/off-list as appropriate.
